Choir Rehearsing for Spring Concert

The Choir has begun rehearsing for its Spring Concert, scheduled for performance on Sunday, April 15, 2012. The program will consist of two Requiems—one by Karl Jenkins, who also wrote The Armed Man that the choir performed two years ago, the other by John Rutter. Coincidentally, both composers dedicated these Requiems to their fathers.

Both are beautiful, uplifting pieces of music, so circle the date on your calendars and make plans to come.

The Choir

The Swift Current Oratorio Choir (SCOC) is a not-for-profit organisation whose members come from all over southwest Saskatchewan. The choir is a diverse group of people, drawn together by their love for singing and choral music, under the leadership of director Marcia McLean. [There is an article about Greg & Marcia in The Prairie Post December 31, 2010. Click the link and go to page 7.] The choir’s accompanist for both rehearsals and concerts is Sheila Braun. [Read an article in the Southwest Booster about Sheila’s award from the Saskatchewan Choral Federation] Typically, the choir performs two events in a season—one during the winter, celebrating the music of Christmas, and the other in the spring.
